RESIN TRANSFER MOULDING (RTM)

Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) is a process used when dimensions are critical and need to be controlled in a tolerance. This is achieved by the closed moulding technique and material control in the mould. Tools are critical to achieving a quality part, we will design, engineer and then build you tools onsite to suit the RTM process and meet the required specification.

CME prides itself on helping customer select the correct technology for their market. We will also work you through the technologies as you business grows and volumes increase. We can also prime and or paint your part in our Class A booths if required.

Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) is a vacuum assisted closed moulding process. Resin Transfer Moulding or commonly known as RTM has excellent resin to glass ratio and excellent strength to weight ratios.

Glass matt or woven rovings is placed into the tool. The tool is closed and clamped; resin with the catalysts is then pumped into the tool replacing air that escapes through vents filling the tool. Moulds for this low pressure are typically a composite construction and suitable for a low to medium volume of parts.

  • Recommended for products with high strength-to-weight requirements
  • Best suited for volumes ranging from 200 to 1,000 parts per year
  • Gel coats provide a high-quality, durable finish, including gel costs for painting on-line.
