Carbon Fibre is a thermoset material used when performance characteristics of traditional thermosets don’t meet weight or stiffness requirements.
Based on three possible choices of a polyester, vinyl ester or epoxy resins and reinforced with Carbon Fibre. It is extremely light, has excellent mould ability for structural parts and a low density. It is available in Carbon Fibre Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC) and Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM), both of which are closed moulding technologies.
SMC Carbon fibre is compression moulded between two steel dies at high press to create the designed shape. RTM is moulded between two closed tools to create the desired shape. It is selected for high volume production with RTM is selected for lower volume production.
It can be engineered to improve performance in localised areas or direction during manufacturing to meet the requirement the specification of your project. Our engineers can assist you in the design and engineering of your part to meet the ultimate mechanical properties it offers.
We are capable of offering both technologies and can transition you through them as volume increase and your business grow.
